Our History

MURPHYSTORE a 200 year old listed building on the Quay in Kinvara, Co Galway has now been restored from dereliction. Originally used as a grain store, this magnificent building is open to the public as a shop and coffee shop. It specialises in the work of local craftspeople and artists offering unique pieces not found elsewhere. In keeping with its location MURPHYSTORE stocks a range of products for health and beauty made from seaweed harvested in unpolluted shores off the west of Ireland.
There are affordable gifts for everyone. Discover the joy of giving and receiving gifts purchased from MURPHYSTORE. When you are there enjoy a delightful cake with your morning coffee or afternoon tea while watching the traditional sailing boats in the bay.

Our Services

This is an active site where you can purchase original paintings in oil and watercolour by local artista. Also hand made crafts and Irish gifts. We stock a range of natural Irish seaweed products harvested from the cleanest waters of the West Coast of Ireland.
Visit our art and craft shop and coffee shop overlooking Dunguaire Castle on the Quay of Kinvara. open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday noon to 6pm.

Accommodation

Kinvara Suites - The perfect escape for a couple! Set in a secluded garden in the heart of Kinvara village just 2 mins walk from shops, pubs, restaurants and the bay.
THE LOFT - has been restored in 2005 to provide luxury accommodation.Each suite comprises lounge, dining rea, galley kitchen(with breakfast provisions), twin or double bedroom, shower/wc, and private balcony overlooking the orchard. Free guest parking in the courtyard off the main street. This secret haven is the ideal place to escape from the stresses and cares of a busy world. Cook a meal, sit by the fire, read a book, listen to music and unwind. No better place! Kinvara village offers a choice of places to dine and evening entertainment in many of the pubs. Easy access to Galway city and the Burren.

Art Gallery

Murphystore hosts solo artist exhibitions from time to time. Throughout the year we display thee work of local artista Ken Hall, Mark Dwyer, Frank Sanford, Michael Tierney and Rena Lewis. There are prints of Irish rowing and sailing boats. The original paintings by Donal Mac Polin are from the book "Traditional Boats of Ireland" Traditional boats of Ireland. Thses exceptional illustrations were exhibited for the first time during the Volvo Ocean Yacht Race to Galway Bay . Exhibition is open daily until 6pm.
